Kind Hearts: A Service for Seniors

Kind Hearts provides a wide range of services tailored to meet individual needs and preferences. We are happy to help on a regular, as needed, or one-time basis. Overnight care can also be arranged. We are situated in Cambridge, Ontario and offer assistance to seniors living in surrounding areas. Please click on a service below to learn more.

Dignity, preferences, respect, and privacy are of the utmost importance when we assist clients with personal hygiene needs. We encourage independence while assisting with personal care including bathing, skin care, grooming, eating, dressing, toileting, and mobility. Light exercise and range of motion activities are incorporated into personal care routines.
Regular visits are recommended to foster a calm and supportive relationship and to assist with overall safety and happiness. Visits may include: Establishing and monitoring routines; Setup visual cues and reminders; Create and update wall calendar; Post family and emergency contacts; Check for safety hazards; Setup wandering safeguards; Encourage and assist with personal hygiene; Simplify food and Meal Plans; Physical activity; Music experiences; Reminiscing; Meaningful conversation; Enhance self-esteem; Group activities (Alzheimer Society and Community); Supportive social outings; Board games; Puzzles; Hobbies.
Outdoor walks; Indoor track or shopping mall walks during inclement weather; Visit parks; Neighbourhood walks; Group fitness and stretching programs; Conditioning centres; Low impact exercise activities; Fundraising walks; Community events; Senior Centre programs. Organize social outings; Assist and encourage participation in activities; Self development workshops; Personal interest classes; Shopping; Markets; Religious Services; Theatre; Movies; Museums; Art Shows; Sporting events; Dining out; Group activities; Visit friends and family; Cooking & eating meals together; Discuss current and historical events; Reminiscing; Read books/newspapers; Correspondence; Board games; Cards; Puzzles; Crafts.
Schedule specific and recurring appointments including Medical, Dental, Lab Work, Hospital treatments/tests, Massage, Physiotherapy, etc; Transportation to appointments; Support during appointments; Document information; Ask pertinent questions; Monitor prescriptions; Followup procedures & appointments; Instruction reminders; Report information and results to family members.

We strive to sustain family caregiver health and wellbeing by providing emotional support and temporary care for loved ones. Specific needs and instructions will be followed and all of our services are offered. It can be difficult, but self care matters. Family caregivers must look after themselves and take time to recharge in order to care for others.
Assist nurses and other health care team members by following the established care plan; Encourage and assist with physiotherapy exercises; Help with passive or active-assistive range of motion exercises and other rehabilitative measures; Monitor food and fluid intake; Measure and report vital signs; Clean equipment; Observe and report progress, status and changes to the healthcare team and/or family members.
Daily visits or phone calls to help ensure safety, good health and wellbeing. Regular contact reduces depression associated with isolation in winter months or when mobility issues cause limitations. This service provides peace of mind when family members live out of town, travel for business, or take a refreshing holiday.
